Yoga is a practice that has a very long history, originating in SE Asia. It is not connected to a particular religious tradition but rather it is a practice that aims to work on the outer body and our inner world. In this way we are free to live our lives to their potential.
The benefits of yoga comes from body awareness thus improving your posture, enhancing your breathing and mental focus which in turn alleviates stress and anxiety as well as gradually building your strength, flexibility and balance.
Immediately after a lesson most students experience a tremendous sense of calm energy. The mind is relaxed but the body feels revived. Attention to breathing and alignment in asana can help bring the mind to a peaceful state. Regular yoga practice helps to increase your metabolism and gives you more energy throughout the day.
Sharon has been practicing yoga & meditation for over 5 years, as a keen sportswoman Sharon has personally benefited from the improved flexibility, balance and focus a regular Yoga practice can bring. Sharon recently graduated from Yogacampus, a school recognised by Yoga Alliance. Sharon teaches Hatha Yoga with a strong focus on breath and alignment and continues to develop her knowledge of the body and teaching through regular courses and workshops.
The first six classes will introduce principles of alignment and breath for simple postures (Asanas), working through Forward Folds, Backbends & extensions, Laterals, Twists, Balances and Inversions. Thereafter the class will build on these principles, introducing variations and new Asanas. The class is suitable for complete beginners; whatever you’re co-ordination, strength or flexibility and anyone coming back to Yoga who would like a refresher. The class is not suitable for pregnancy; however, I can put you in touch with teachers that have trained in Yoga for pregnancy. Please pre-book as the class will initially be limited to a maximum of 8 students.
